Well, today's the last day to register without a late fee for the October exam. I'm not sure if I should try one last time. I'm a senior right now, and I've taken the ACT twice. The first time (some time last year), I got a 35. I took it again this month just to try to get that perfect 36. The main reason for that is because it always seems like (in my area at least), if you get a 36, you can basically go to any college you want to. That's probably an overstatement, but I'm not planning on applying to the top schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc) anyways.
This previous exam was not so good for me. I was struggling with time and will probably get around a 31-33.
Should I try just one more time? My family really doesn't want me to waste my time. I already told them that I would pay for this last one, if I take it. And, honestly, how significant is a 36?
Thanks

No. a 35 is just as good as a 36. You are wasting your time and money. A 36 will offer negligible to zero advantage over a 35.

My son got a 34 and is not retaking.

Even if you got a 36 instead of a 35, I don’t think that would make much of a difference at all to an admissions officer.

Would it to YOU, if you were an admissions officer?

Getting a 36 instead of a 35 is probably just one or two answers on the exam.

Your time would probably be better spent, in my opinion, on writing your college essays.

Yeah, I guess you guys are right. I think it’s just the idea of getting a PERFECT score on the ACT that makes me want to take it again. And now that I think about it, the correlation between those getting 36s and those getting into top universities is probably because students who score perfect are likely to be very good in other areas as well. I think I’m not gonna try again. I just hope that being so close and just falling short of a 36 doesn’t affect my mental health :)

Just goes to show even idiots get high ACT scores.

SMH…

hahahah please tell me this is a joke. You’re not even applying to top schools and you’re worrying a 35 isn’t good enough!?

Even if you were applying to HYPS, a 35 would definitely be good enough…

Get over yourself. -.-

[sarcasm] Yeah he must have gotten lucky and guessed correctly 99% of the questions [/sarcasm]

Just goes to show people who post on these forums with NOthing to contribute are idiots/close to it.
