Should I try the ACTs?

Okay, the deadline for registrations for the September 11th ACT is August 6th ... AKA TOMORROW :| I've been thinking about this decision for two weeks and I don't know whether I should go for it or not. I'm only familiar with the SATs, which I did terrible on and I feel like there's no hope for me to drastically improve to the score I want to achieve. I get good grades, but my SAT score definitely does not correlate with my GPA.

I've done a bit of research on the ACT, took the practice questions ACT.org has to offer, and I got most of them right. I feel a little confident that I can do better on the ACT, but I only have one month left to study. (I'm still signing up for the SATs to give it a second chance). I've heard that people who usually do bad on the SATs do better on the ACTs (and that it may be easier). Is this true?

I live on the East coast in the New England area so SATs are definitely dominant here. Even my local library doesn't have any practice ACT books there, so I guess I'm going to have to purchase my own books at Barnes and Nobles.

What's your opinion on the ACT vs. SAT based on your experience?
Should I go for it? ...

take both

10char

Take the ACT! Trust me… my score greatly increased from SAT to ACT

Thanks! I actually did sign up for the ACT the day before the deadline.
I just hope I don’t suck.

Well you can always take it again, and you have plenty of time with summer and stuff. At worst, you get screwed out of like 40 bucks
