My family’s income is ~75k, I’m white, and my parents both graduated college, so I don’t have much of a chance statistically. However, my family has serious medical bills from cancer, Parkinson’s, a lung disorder, etc., and my brother is going to college the same year as me. I also have a 36 ACT, a 4.0, and am top of my class (and my essays/recs are pretty good.)
Even if I do make it in, my biggest concern is that my EFC is over zero. Is it even heard of for someone to get matched with a higher income?
I really do need the scholarship - my parents have outright stated that they aren’t paying for any of my schooling. However, I’m not sure if I’d be better off just applying directly to the schools and hoping for aid.
