Should I Try to Get off the Waitlist

I recently got wait listed to BU, although objectively speaking I thought it would be one of my safeties (according to my school’s naviance). I have a 3.85 UW, 2180 SAT (680 Reading, 760 Writing, 740 Math), 790 US History, 750 Math II, 740 Biology E. I completely understand that BU is not a shoe in for anyone, and objective statistics make up at the most half of a decision, but I’m not sure whether I should accept a position on the wait list or focus on other schools. I dreamed of the ivies (I live in NJ near a pretty good one), but got rejected from the two I applied to (Cornell, Princeton) and MIT… lol. Fortunately, I have gotten into my state school (Rutgers), Penn State, UCLA, and Boston College. Nevertheless, I was really hoping to get into UNC Chapel Hill and possibly Michigan, but was wait listed at both, as well. My grades aren’t the best now, so I’m kind of in a bad position. After some research it seems that Michigan accepts very, very few students off the wait list, so I think that’s out of the question. Other than that, what would anyone suggest. Like I said, UNC would be awesome, so I think I might try to get off of that wait list. Any suggestions/tips on how to move forward (getting off of a waitlist)?

Go to BC! I’m was accepted to Rutgers with pretty much a full ride but got wait listed by BC. IM PROBABLY gonna put the deposit down for RU and hope to get out of the wailing of Boston college as it is my dream school. Which school from BC did you get accepted to?

I might do the same… Although I didn’t receive too much money. I was accepted to arts and sciences at BC, which I’m pretty happy about. I know I’m a pretty strong applicant academically, but the fact that I didn’t receive anywhere near a full ride and even got waitlisted at one Rutgers school attests to the randomness of this process. I don’t know what to think anymore… I guess I just gotta stay motivated and try to off the wait list at UNC
