should i try to get recruited?

so i decided to try track and field this year. im a junior and im doing the 300 m hurdles as my main event. we had time trials on the 300 m (without hurdles) and i pulled off amazing times, surpassing varsity level times. and since im doing 300 m hurdles, everyone says that i have a chance to beat the #1 300 m hurdler on the team (an hes good, went to state championships and all). should i contact coaches from colleges even though im a newb in track and field? i think ill become really good by the end of this season...

Wait and see if you are a) good and b) love it by the end of the year. Next summer is soon enough to contact coaches. This season, get some video of your races so that if you choose to go down this path you have something to send coaches.

Coaches will look at times for running events. At the end of the season, register on berecruited.com. Good advice to see if you like it at the end of the season.
If you like both soccer and track, you can look for a D3 school where you can do both. These sports may get you in to a D3 sschool where you might be on the borderline, or if your academics are above the middle 50% for schools you might get some academic scholarships. MOST IMPORTANT - you have to love the sports you do because they take lots of time! Good luck!
