So I don't even know if this is possible, but I'm probably going to UMD next year and I signed up for Honors Humanities because I like the idea of a smaller community. However, I've been trying to plan out a potential courseload and I'm having trouble making it work because I want to double major and study abroad, and the requirements of the majors and gen ed are too many classes to fit into 4 years, let alone 3 (so that I could go abroad for a year). I feel like one way to help fix that would be to drop Honors Humanities and join University Honors because they don't have specific requirements, so I could take honors classes that fulfill my major requirements instead of them being a separate thing. However, I'm not sure about that decision because I feel like there would be less of a sense of community in University Honors since it's so huge, and I'm really drawn to Honors Humanities though I'm concerned about the requirements. I'd just love to have some advice on this situation or just people to bounce my thoughts off of, so thanks for sharing any thoughts you have on my situation! :)

I don’t know what opportunities Honors Humanities offers, but I guarantee that you’ll find your own ‘community’ after the first few weeks.

University Honors is the most flexible, and almost all of the honors seminar classes fulfill Core requirements. People generally find that their dorm hall develops a great sense of community, and living with other Honors students makes the community feeling stronger. If you want to double major and study abroad, this might be the better option for you.
