So I'm going to be a senior next year and since I didn't take algebra until freshman year I'm going to be in pre-cal next year and I'm not going to take calculus. Should I hurry up and take pre-cal so I can take AP calculus next year? I'm asking because I'm only going to have two years of a foreign language and I think I should try to make up for that.

my schedule for next year otherwise would be

AP English Lit
AP English Lang
AP Gov
AP Econ
AP Physics
AP US
Pre-AP Pre-cal
second semester theatre
second semester business management

Do colleges really like seeing calculus? I'm not planning on majoring in a math related field so is it necessary?

You’ve got a fine HS Senior Year schedule there. Challanging!

My daughter took AP Calculus and placed out of her Univeristy Calculus course. However, at orientation, including the business school orientation, it was stressed over and over again that HS AP Calculus is not on par with College calculus. I wanted her to start with Calculus 101, but she perservered and took Calculus II or 201. It whipped her bad at the beginning, which motivated her to study even harder and she ended with a great grade. :

So, no, don’t beat yourself up this summer, especially if your not going into math, as your presumptive college might just strongly suggest you retake their calculus. :)

If you REALLY want, do it.

So I shouldn’t? I just wasn’t sure whether or not colleges prefer you take calculus.
