I am at fordham but i want to apply to a different school. my list of schools i like and would apply to is Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, UVa, U Mich, Colgate, Vassar, U of Chicago, and Bowdoin.
My college gpa is 3.95 through one semester and i will bring it up next semester. My SATs are 2240, 800 R 760 W 680 M. In high school however, my gpa was only 2.93.
is it worth applying to these schools? or does my high school gpa mean i am just throwing my money away?

Your high school GPA definitely inhibits you if the schools look at that. Your SATs are fantastic though. Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1057649-wheel-chance-what-goes-around-comes-around.html

Not all schools accept transfer students (e.g. Harvard for instance no longer does that, I think). Your UG GPA matters and that’s good. Can you secure solid letters of recommendation from your professors?

i already have spoken to one professor and she agreed to write me a rec. I dont know that shell write a good one but she gave me 500 out of 500 on our final paper and in our regular correspondence has seemed to like me so i would assume that her writing on my behalf will be positive

do i have a chance at any of these places?

Way better chance at the top schools if you can maintain the GPA and apply as a junior transfer.
