I heard that by getting an undergrad in physics with a minor in business, one can get high entry-level business jobs because companies will want your math skills. However, I know for certain that I want to do business, so should I just major solely in business instead?
I’m going to get either a master in finance or an MBA after graduating if that helps.
If you know you want business then I’d study business. You can always look into getting a double major or minor or just taking extra classes in math or even statistics if you want to hone those skills.
If you are looking towards a top MBA program they typically want students who (among many other things) have a minimum of 2-5 years of meaningful work experience.
So…first get into college and take some college classes. See what suits you.
Majoring in physics just b/c you ‘heard’ that it will get you a good job is silly if you don’t actually like the physics and math classes that you have to take to complete the major (I see from another thread that you did well on the Physics subject test, but the road is long in a physics major). Also - remember that not all ‘high-entry level business jobs’ are very mathy- outside of certain finance / IB type areas, most won’t be looking for advanced math skills.
