Should I update?

I just came in 8th in my county at a major math tournament. Is this worth notifying colleges about?

Any opinions?

Couldn't hurt.

Is this OK to send by email?:

To Whom it May Concern,

I am a prospective applicant for the class of 2012, and I would like to update your office on my success at the Nassau Math Tournament. This past Friday, I placed 8th in the grade level at this county-wide competition. Can this new information be added to my file?

Thank you very much,

all my friends took this test, congrats

It couldn't hurt, but, honestly, taking 8th at a county math tournament isn't spectacular enough to tip the admissions decisions anymore towards your favor than it already may be. If you would have taken 8th in the nation, that would be different. Send it anyways though. At least it demonstrates interest in that college.

Is what I wrote above alright?

Yes, it's fine.
