In the application, there is a space for "Additional Information" and I've heard that many people use this to upload a Resume or another Essay. My dilemma is that I have BOTH ready but dont know which one I should choose! I think there is only one document that can be uploaded. The other option is that I paste them both together on one file. Do you think that would pose a problem? Or look unprofessional?

Thanks for your help! Deadline is today!

Essay. They already gave you a space for Resume (ECs, etc.) didn’t they?

Well this is for the common ap and theres a limit of 7 activities in the EC section so I’d have to cut some stuff out. Any other opinions?

From common app:

“Please list your principal extracurricular, community, volunteer and family activities and hobbies in the order of their interest to you. Include specific events and/or major accomplishments such as musical instrument played, Varsity letters earned, etc. To allow us to focus on the highlights of your activities, <<<please complete=”" this=“” section=“” even=“” if=“” you=“” plan=“” to=“” attach=“” a=“” resume.=“”>>> You can use the ‘Add activity’ button to list up to 7 activities; <<<if you=“” need=“” more=“” space,=“” please=“” use=“” the=“” additional=“” information=“” area=“” of=“” writing=“” section.=“”>>>"</if></please>

Go ahead and use the additional info if more than 7 activities are in your principal and most important list.

When I filled it out I just listed the 4 most important activities that I had. They’d go over 7 but I didn’t bother; it wasn’t important.

Yeah okay, thats what I was leaning towards. Just wanted some reassurance. Thanks for the help!

If I were an admissions counselor, I don’t want to be reading so many essays. Supplement(s)+common app+ your extra one? Ayyyeee. I personally uploaded my resume because I have more activities/awards and some of the commonapp 70(?) character description space was not long enough for me.

Or, you could upload your essay to your commonapp and then email an extended resume to each college. Just a suggestion.

Extra essay to a SPECIFIC school is very good, but if you’re uploading another essay that isn’t addressing to a specific school (such as your Main Essay) don’t bother. That is, if you’re applying to multiple colleges. That shows your initiative in taking interest in that specific school, and they’ll appreciate it as long as it isn’t a long one.

I think the resume - if done neatly and kept short - is probably more insightful than another essay. Son had his in brief sections: AP Academic, Athletics, Volunteer, Summers/Jobs. He did this for the same reasons as Odd Monkey. I think that their saying to fill out the sections “even if you’re planning to submit a resume” suggests that the resume is semi-expected or at least usual.
