I was accepted awhile ago but now I'm thinking about visiting the school sometime soon so I can get a feel for it. I'm still waiting to hear from 10 other schools but I'm seriously considering Tulane and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to make the trip. If so, any advice?

How can you consider it WITHOUT visiting…?

You could wait until April for accepted students days at your schools, but please, do not even consider attending a school without visiting…

Why wouldn’t you want to visit New Orleans? (and Tulane of course!)

Check with your admission counselor regarding upcoming Destination Tulane events.

Ok, thanks!

You should visit any school (if you are able to) that you are considering. I was somewhat interested in Tulane prior to my first visit and it quickly became my number one after. I have visited more than 12 schools, each school gave me greater insight into what I really want from a school. Schools that were always on the top of my list on paper (Brown and UPenn) I ended up not even applying to after visiting.

I did just get back form visiting Tulane last night. I got in Early Action and it was the only school i applied to that I hadn’t actully seen. I’m really gald I did see it because now it basically shot up to the top of my list. If I hadn’t have seen it, I probably wouldn’t have given it much thought. So defiently go visit.

did anyone who visited get a deal on their tickets? i saw on tulane’s site that they have airline deals but i’m not sure if they’re that good.

max - Great that you enjoyed your visit so much. As those of us that have been posting a while can attest, your experience is not at all unusual. In fact, it seems that more than almost any school I have read about, more students move Tulane way up in their consideration after a visit.

Would you mind being specific about what things that you saw/sensed during your visit resulted in you feeling this way? It would be so useful to other students, potentially.

You should definitely visit the school and New Orleans in general. My son is a current freshman and knew absolutely nothing about the school when he received an application packet in the mail last year. After visiting the school in April, it became his first choice and he has not regretted his decision. And it was not only the physical appearance of the school and the anticipation of warmer weather during the winter - it was also the fact that we were made to feel welcome upon arrival to the campus and during our entire visit (even before our arrival, as a matter of fact - we were able to arrange a classroom visit via cellphone on the way into town!). At any rate, my advice is to make the trip - you won’t regret it!

I had absolutely no interest before I visited. I was in New Orleans on vacation and my family practically forced me to visit on a whim. I was absolutely hooked (on the school and the city) and didn’t want to leave. There is a reason why TPTB at Tulane recommend so strongly that you visit… Nothing in photographs you literature can do it justice. You really have to get a feel for the atmosphere.

Congrats on your acceptance. It is my first choice school and I was deferred, so I hope I can be so lucky come April.

Sorry. Don’t mean to hijack this thread, but would anyone recommend going to a baseball game when i go to Destination Tulane. I have heard the stadium is incredible.

Go to what you think you will enjoy! If there is a game scheduled when you are there, definitely try to go see it. Who are they playing? My s wanted to see the chemistry labs. We had lunch with two chem professors when he visited spring of his senior year. He now works in the lab of one of the 2 profs and is taking second semester Orgo from the other. Its all good!!

I agree with jym, but yes, the stadium is one of the top 5 in the country for college ball, as far as I can tell. (I am a huge baseball fan). It actually rivals some Triple A stadiums I have seen.

Enjoy!

Visit! I just got back today from New Orleans and I LOVED it! the school is beautiful and the city is fantastic! while i was there literally every single person was talking about the saints and decorations are already up for mardi gras. i am honestly hoping that i don’t get into any other schools because tulane is now my first choice! i don’t want my parents to make me go anywhere else haha

Yeah the pictures of the stadium look a lot nicer than the double A stadium here in Birmingham. They play Marshall twice at home when I am there so I will definitely try to go see a game.
