Should I Wait A Semester Then Transfer?

I am a rising high school junior who has been taking college classes with my high school curriculum. The way I have it calculated now, by the end of senior year I will have 49 credits (I’m taking 6 college classes each year and a few classes in the summer).

Now I know that one semester of college you take at least 12 credits per semester (to be a full-time student). If I take one more semester worth of classes I will have enough credits to get an “associates of science” degree. Should I just take a single semester at my community college to get that degree? I don’t know how my classes will transfer to a 4 year or if I will miss out on aid and experiences.

Is it worth it to wait and then transfer? Or should I just go to a 4 year straight out of high school?
My grades and GPA are good enough to go right into a decent 4 year- so there isn’t much holding me back.

In my opinion the degree Associate of Science is sort of useless unless you need time to decide your major or you’re planning to transfer to transfer to a 4-year university, and you can go there straight out of high school. Particularly if you’re planning to be a full-time student (without a job that might require an AS degree), get your BS instead.

Financial aid is much better for freshman applicants than transfer applicants. If your end goal is a bachelor’s degree, I would not forego the good financial aid just to get the Associates designation on your degree.
