Should I wait another year?

Hi, I have a question about what I should do in my present situation.
I go to my local CCC, but I have 27 units of credit from CSU Fresno (from high school), and I will have completed 32 units by the end of this semester. I have some AP credit from the 8 tests I took but that doesn't really have to do with my question. my current gpa is a 3.7..

This is my first year at CCC and I applied in the fall for UC Merced and CSUF, just to see what kind of financial aid I could get and probably would apply to various UC's next fall.
But I saw my counselor and she told me I shouldn't stay another year because of the unit cap that regards going to a 4 year and then coming to a ccc.

Additionally, by the end of the current semester I'll have all of IGETC finished and my major pre reqs..
I'm not sure what else I'd take but my mom wants me to stay another year because she thinks I'll get better financial aid.

So, I did some research and found that the different UC's have unit caps but I wont exceed them (excluding davis) if I stay another year..but what classes would I take?? Should I just make a decision between CSUF and Merced? I like CSUF anyway, but my mom wants me to go to a better school.

I'm not sure what to do. Should I wait another year?
Thanks a lot for your help!

With a 3.7 I’d consider waiting an extra year and applying to some higher tier UCs.

Also I doubt the amount of financial aid will differ greatly based on the number of years you stayed at a CCC.

Why did you only apply to one UC? I’m sure you have your reasons. What do you intend to major as? If you have your pre req’s done, I would wait a year.

I might just stay another year, but i’m not sure what else I would take. just anything?

and yeah that’s what I figured… (about the financial aid). Thanks for the response :)

I applied to only merced because my mother said to because she heard they had better scholarship opportunities. I can’t really afford to go off…
I plan to major in Economics :)
