I'm hungry to apply soon. Only problem is that my SAT scores from last June weren't so top notch (1540/2400) however I took the recent one and think I did much better. Should I wait, or should I do test optional? I have a 3.19 GPA W with multiple AP and honors and am part of several clubs (including volunteer, with 40+ hrs of volunteer work) and the XC and Track & Field team (3 years both).

Wait for your SAT scores. I think people should only go test-optional if they got below a 1200 maybe.
Did you take the ACT? People generally do better on it, I did.

I took the ACT but I wasn’t prepared for it. It was pretty much a last minute thing and the week of the test I was overwhelmed with 4 tests and a lot of homework so I pretty much went in on test day unprepared. Ended up with a 21. I had test anxiety because the amount of time that was given for each section was so low. I pretty much regret not considering it long beforehand.

If I did submit my scores in, would I have to submit both the SAT AND ACT scores? Because let’s say if I get a decent SAT but a poor ACT score. Would that affect their decision by a lot? Also, by 1200 are you referring to CR+M or the total score in general?

You don’t have to submit both scores. Your SATs are better so I’d submit those.
By 1200, I’m referring to the total score in general.

Oh and if you did submit both, they’d just look at your SATs anyway since they’re better.

Thanks. I also wanna ask, but are there certain credentials to get into a specific school at Temple? Like for example I want to get into the College of Science and Technology. Is it harder to get into that as opposed to say, the art school (don’t know the name of it)? Or does Temple work differently?

Certain schools and programs have auditions or you have to send in a portfolio. For music, acting, dancing, there is a audition portion. For CST, you indicate what major you want to be in on your application.

And no problem, happy to help anyone who will possible be in Temple2019 like me

Nice, just one more question though. If I do go with the option of submitting my scores, will I be able to change them at a later time? Assuming you’ve already applied.

You mean if you apply now with one score, can you send the other ones later? Yes, but temple does their decisions so quick, I’d send them both at the same time

1501, i agree with niqniq. wait until u get your new SAT scores to send in the app. it is still early, Re certain credentials, i don;t really know. i’d get on that dept’s website at Temple and find out. Funny you used the art school as an example as they are top notch program and may* be one of harder depts to get into!
