I am an in-state auto admit applicant. I want to apply to the honors program (probably liberal arts honors).

My current SAT is a 2120 (570 M, 800 CR, 750 W) and I am going to be retaking the test in the next few months to try to improve my math score.

I am unsure if I should apply now or wait.

You are retaking the test in the next few months? The deadline to apply is Dec 1. Liberal Arts Honors has a suggested deadline of Oct 15:

[UT College of Liberal Arts](<a href=“Liberal Arts Honors Programs | Liberal Arts | UT - Austin”>Liberal Arts Honors Programs | Liberal Arts | UT - Austin)

Keep in mind that although the absolute deadline is Dec 1, they accept auto-admits until they reach 75% capacity. The rest is reserved for all other categories. So if they reach that percentage before getting to you because you waited, you risk not being accepted. (This is my understanding of the process)

Thank you for the reply! I was not aware of that policy.

I am taking the SAT on October 6th. I would submit the application with new scores around October 20th, as soon as scores become available.

I know LAH has a rolling admissions policy. Is it a significant advantage to apply at or prior to the suggested deadline?

What is the auto-admit policy for LAH? I thought it’s auto-admit into the normal liberal arts if you are top 8%, regardless of when you apply, and then to get into LAH they do a wholistic review.

Yes, you are correct. I am auto-admitted to the College of Liberal Arts, not LAH.

Bumping…

Should I apply by the recommended deadline, October 15th, with my current SAT score or retake the SAT and apply by December 1st?
