Should I wait to do regular decision?

I just got back my SAT scores and I would like to know if it would be a good idea to wait until December to do Regular Decision for UGA? I am uncertain how I will do on the Saturday's SAT as well. What are the disadvantages of waiting until December?

My SAT score a 1700. The breakdown is 640 CR, 480 Math, 580 Writing.
My UW GPA is 3.4, weighted is 3.69
EC's:
-President of martial art club for one year
-DECA participant one year

bumpin this up

Definitely wait for RD. Disadvantages are that you won’t be considered for some scholarships, but it is better to wait because you can be completely denied EA, whereas you may have something in your RD app that really makes you stand out.

Okay, that comment does not make sense… if you stand out, you stand out… whether you are in the EA or RD pool.

You say you are taking the SAT again? I would wait for the RD pool… your math SAT is quite low right now. Hopefully you have studied hard and it will improve.

Thanks guys,
Here are some more questions
Because I am applying later, will I get my decision in April? How is the competition in the later regular decision?

I would not wait. It is always easier to get in early because they know you are more dedicated to the school.

Typical trend:

EA/ ED = fewer applicants, greater admission rate
RD = more applicants, smaller admission rate

Good luck!

bumping this up

Unless you expect to have much better test scores or something else available for the RD deadline, then applying non-binding EA just lets you get one of these results early:

Admitted: you now have a safety (assuming sufficient financial aid).

Rejected: you are alerted that you may have to adjust your application list downward on the selectivity scale when there is still time to apply to more schools.

Deferred: same as applying RD.

UGA as in U of Georgia? I’m pretty sure the EA deadline was 10/15

For the original question, if you are applying RD anyway, you may want to improve your score first unless it is already close to admission average. Also, if the school does rolling, you should apply as soon as possible.
