Penn is and will always be my dream school, however, it is prob not realistic. I wana know if its worth it to waste my ed on a place i wont get into. I wana apply ed 2 penn but if i know i wont get in, i might as well use it towards nyu which is my 2nd choice- although not excited at all about that one. So any comments would be awesome

I would use it on Penn or not ED at all. You will always regret if you don’t…whereas you seem to not be that excited about ED’ing NYU. I would spend this summer getting that ACT up to 32-33 level, and your chances will be much more realistic.

Just do it or you’ll never know what might have happened if you did. Apply ED. Give it your all. No one can ever fault you for that, and most importantly, you can’t have regrets afterwards.

i completely agree but if i dont get into nyu regular il always say my chances were so slim i shoudve been realistic applied ed 2 nyu and just get in

are you applying for financial aid? if so, DON’T apply to nyu. also, nyu’s not that hard to get into and tons of people reject it, so there must be some waitlist activity. Why not just try for your dream- you’ll never be able to go back. And if you did get into NYU ed, you would wonder what might have happened had you applied ed to Penn.

ya im not applying for financial aid, and i guess if im gonne go ed for penn i gotta write some insane essays … so hard to think of something different and original

i’d say apply ed to penn. I have the same grades, a 31 ACT and not as good ec’s as you. I applied RD to Penn (Wharton) and got waitlisted, and I keep thinking that what if I applied early? would i have gotten in and not still be waiting right now?
I think that if Penn is your dream school then you should go for it.

apply to ed penn. i had the same problem. i was debating whether to completely shun my ED for penn, which limited my legacy status, since I wanted to go for prince/harv.

Your test scores are not within the middle 50% (low is 30) , a major killer. As much as people say “test scores dont matter,” those people generally have Average test scores. Id advise against wasting ED on Penn.

Don’t listen to asian at lab. He’s a sophomore. I speak as a person who has gone through this entire tedious process. Apply early and apply early to your dream school. An amazing app can make up for test scores. Test scores will not kill you. You can get into Penn on them. Apply and don’t let anyone tell you not to. Best of luck and remember: the college application process only comes around once in your life, so make the best of it!

Don’t settle!!! Honestly, if you think you belong at Penn, go for it! It’s true that Cornell will give you an ivy name still but it’s not about that, it’s where you belong. When I applied regular I was choosing between lots of ivy names but none of that mattered; what mattered was where I belonged. Just go for for it and don’t listen to people who wouldn’t understand. Write wonderful essays and tell them exactly why Penn’s the place for you. You never know.

If it is your first choice, go for it. You will never know if you don’t try. Test scores are not everything, they are just qualifiers. While it probably gives someone a big advantage to be in the middle of the score range for Penn, schools cannot only rely on test scores because they do not provide a complete picture. I personally think that grades and course rigor in the context of your school are more probably the most important admissions factors because they do provide a pretty good image of you as a student over timi. However, ff there are any test scores you want to improve, try studying for subject tests or AP tests because they are more specific. Good luck!

The average ACT score is 32, but that’s overall - it may be lower for ED. Might as well give it a shot. The fact that your school doesn’t rank is probably detrimental - a high rank may have given the adcoms cause to overlook your worse showing with SAT IIs/ACTs.

DUDE, I am in the exact same situation as you. I’m debating on whether or not to ED to Upenn or NYU too. You and I have similar stats although where my ECs are lacking, your test scores are.

Although I’m still questioning myself, right now I am set on EDing UPenn. It is a longshot, but I’d rather get into Penn than NYU. If need be, I can always go to my flagship state school U of I and do business there if I do not get into Penn or NYU.

Eventually though, I think I am going to eliminate applying to NYU altogether if I ED Upenn. If I don’t get into the king of all business schools, I’d rather enjoy my college life at a place with awesome life and sports over a college that is marginally better in education/networking.

thanks alot guys i think im just gonna go for it… il never know and il always question myself hopefully the admission committee will be high and just be like f it well take him

don’t tell yourself that they would have to be high. they like passion esp. passion for penn so you really never know. best of luck!!! write good essays!!!
