Since I'm starting college this fall, should I wear my glasses for first impressions, I really don't want people to have the impression that I'm a loser (which is a stereotype society has associated with people wearing glasses), I'm not blind without them, what would you do?

People don’t stereotype others based on their looks in college. Remember, there’s going to be a lot of incoming freshmen looking to make new friends because they’re off on their own for the first time. Don’t worry about little things like how you look with your glasses on. Just be yourself, present yourself outwardly and let people see your true self (I’m sorry if that sounded too cliche haha but that’s really all there is to it)

I only have to wear my glasses when I’m looking really far, because my eyes aren’t that bad. I usually don’t wear my glasses during passing period/lunch/etc., but I do wear them during class. However, I’m only in high school, but that’s what works for me.

What? Glasses aren’t a sign of “loser”; they haven’t been for awhile now. Everyone is wearing them now, especially the ones with the rectangular frame… Besides, dork chic has taken over, so you have nothing to worry about. As far as glasses go, anyway.

I’d wear contacts if that were an option. I know a bunch of people who wear glasses though that definitely don’t fit that stereotype. First impressions are hard to judge, but I would tend to agree that many associate glasses with nerdiness, etc.
Do whatever you feel comfortable with, but I would go for contacts if/when my sight goes downhill.

There are a lot of glasses that look pretty stylish. I don’t have any glasses since (repeatedly) losing them and I haven’t figured out the whole getting a prescription from my doctor in Maryland up to some random store in New York.

Yeah, I’m not that bright.

Anyway, as long as the rest of you doesn’t look…off, then glasses really won’t make a difference. Likewise, not wearing glasses won’t make you come across any “cooler”.

I wear my glasses so I don’t die while riding my bike, run into things and/or people or accidently go through doors marked ‘emergency alarm exit’.

So I suggest wearing them because no one is going to associate you as a loser/dork just because you have less than normal eyesight unless you really are one, then it wouldn’t matter. All jokes aside, if you wear your glasses everyday now, then wear your glasses everyday in the fall. You shouldn’t change simple things just because it’s college. It’s just school, for christ’s sake.

get some fresh glasses. (I have some Emporio Armani’s for long-distance, small letter/number vision)

or contacts.

or do nothing

Do what YOU feel like.

I have contacts and glasses, without either I am blind. As long as your confident, happy and drama-free people will like you:) There’s days where I just forget about contacts. Many people are buying non prescripiton glasses and I was like that when I was younger. Only wear glasses in class which makes ur eyes worse.

You will not give people a bad impression if you wear glasses. A lot of my friends wear glasses. I wear glasses. It helps me get good grades and see better. Why do you care so much about first impressions in college? Worry about more important things such as getting good grades and not flunking.

Of course you wont give bad impressions. But still, people look better without glasses.

I think contacts are pretty popular nowadays.

If you need your glasses for distance, you should wear them so that you can spot familiar faces around campus and outside of class (or in big lecture halls).

Contacts are annoying. I used to wear contacts; they made my eyes bloodshot.

If you only need glasses sometimes, why would you wear them on the first day? And if you need to, pull them out! I also have glasses for distance and wear them only for that. Plus wearing them when you dont need them might ruin whatever eyesight you do have! What is you prescription for your eyes? But btw theres nothing really nerdy about glasses, of course thats dependant on the frame haha

I don’t think people will care. I actually think many people look better and more attractive with glasses. (:

Glasses are amazing. Definitely, wearing them rather than not suits some people…

Hopefully, your classmates are beyond the “life is a popularity contest” mentality of high school. Wear them when necessary because everybody will see them on you eventually. Contacts are great, but not so great for all nighters.

If people think you’re a loser because you’re wearing glasses, even if they do look ridiculous, that’s a good way to weed out the people who aren’t worth your friendship.

What’s wrong with wearing glasses?
I only wear mine when I need to (class, driving, etc.) just because I think constantly relying on them makes your eyes worse. What do I know though :p. I don’t wear contacts at all.
