Should I write a cover letter when mailing my documents to the college?

Hi, I am an applicant from China, and I really don't the details about mailing. I want to apply for Georgia Tech and I need to mail my transcripts, Rec letters and other materials to the college. Since there are a couple of items, I am wondering whether writing a cover letter will make my application look better? Or will the letter be redundant?
Thanks for help!

It’s not necessary to include a cover letter. If you do include one, it would only be appropriate to make clear which “folder” the material should go in. To that end, the letter would identify you, provide your mailing and emailing addresses, your school and hometown/province, and your common app ID number, if applicable. Don’t add information in the cover letter that is not in your application as the cover letter is likely to be read only by the student who opens the mail.
