Should I write in the Additional Information Section?

I'm finishing up my common application and have a question:

I saw the additional info section, which seemed somewhat self-explanatory. I'm having trouble deciding if I should write something there...

I was homeschooled for my 9th grade year, did community college part time 10th grade, and have gone full time to the community college for 11th and 12th grade. Should I write about how this has prepared me for regular college?

I've already listed the above information as part of the academics portion of the application. I just don't know if it would be redundant, or stupid, or if it would help my chances of admission.

The optional essay can be used to explain information you don’t feel was conveyed enough in your application or explain other circumstances. I wouldn’t recommend writing about how well you feel prepared for college. A good essay though might be about your transition from school, to homeschooling, to community college student and how your path to college is unique. Most students do not follow a path like that so explaining why you did and how it has affected you might be good. Don’t write about how its affected you academically but instead how its affected you view of yourself, how you learn, and education overall. Just an example though. You can write about anything but don’t make it nonsense.

Good Luck!
