Should I?

So, I'm failing math...should I withdrawl (w) or get an F and repeat in summer school? I am planning on transfering to a small uni. How should I word the email to the uni. without sounding like I dropped it "just because"?

Withdraw. A W won't impact your gpa, but an F will. You can generally replace the F in your gpa with a class retaken under repeat option, but if you don't repeat the class at the same institution you will be stuck with the F.

Withdraw. Do you actually have to explain anything?

Would your school allow a W this late in the term? Would it be a W or a WF (withdrawl-failing)? Have you been admitted to HSC yet?

People, people...

The word is withdrawal. With drawl is the way they speak in Texas. ;)

I believe withdraw is correct when referring to the action. From the Mesa Community College catalog (<a href="http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/services/student_services/dean/academic/index.html):%5B/url%5D">http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/services/student_services/dean/academic/index.html):</a>
Withdrawals:
Students who cannot complete the semester must officially withdraw from the college. Obtain forms in the Records/Registration Office and follow the procedure in the catalog. Failure to officially withdraw can cause the loss of all fees and result in failing grades for all courses registered.

Marian,
After I re-read this, I realized your comments were refering to post #5. I feel like Gilda Radner when she would play Emily Litella on SNL News - Never Mind!
