I applied to MSU in early September (they received everything as of 9/9) and I haven't gotten a response yet. I was invited into their 'early action' program, so I'm guaranteed a response by 11/15. However, I have friends who applied 10/10ish and have already been accepted. Should I be worried that I haven't heard anything? My application portal has said, "Your application is currently under consideration with your reviewing counselor. You will receive an initial decision on your application for admission within 12 weeks. Your patience during the review process is greatly appreciated." for about a month now.
Does the fact that I'm applying to Lyman Briggs have anything to do with this?
Also, do I have any chance of being in the Honors College?

Hi! I went to visit MSU over the summer and had an interview to find out more about the Lyman Briggs program also, because I am (hopefully) going there for the sciences and it is my numebr one school. The guidance counselor I spoke to explained how Lyman Briggs is much harder to get into and they evaluate you more carefully when taken into consideration. As I was nervous I would not get in at all, I chose not to put Lyman Briggs on my application but my major instead. So, don’t be worried, I’m sure they’re looking over your app!! It’s just going to take them longer because space is limited in your program. If it helps at all I submitted all my things on Oct 16 and still haven’t heard back. So nervous!!!

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better, actually. Let’s hope we both get in!

What I can tell is that with 3.7ish GPa you will not have any problem getting admitted. MSU admits students even with 3.1 Gpa. Education is a big business!

Did u hear back??? She the other thread in Michigan state forum, HONORS COLLEGE. He heard back in 6 days. All my materials where in by 10/24 and I haven’t heard back yet.

I applied November 1st and got my admission letter on 11/6…i had a 3.0 gpa and a 27 ACT. Your stats are way better, you’ll be fine.

@peggester and @ jordyn did you all hear back yet. And how do u apply to honors college ? Do u have to state it in the application itself or do they select themselves??

I heard yesterday. Accepted! Now how do you know that you got into Lyman Briggs? As for the honors college, everyone is looked at and if you get in, they send you a letter in the mail after your accepted, but there’s no seperate application for it.
