Should my parents report unsold stock value in the FAFSA and net price calculator.

Yes, it is an asset. If they have a 1,000 shares of XYZ Corp. and it is trading for $23.67 on the day they fill out the form, they have to include $23,670 in assets.

Where are the assets held? In a plain vanilla brokerage account (then yes- they get reported) or in an IRA/401K?
