Should one put this on their awards section on their college apps....

Ok here's the scenario.

A guy named... oh I don't know, let's call him Kelvin. So Kelvin is driving/walking home from school one day and he sees a burning building. He overhears the firefighters trying to find a path inside, but it doesn't seem like they'll be successful. So Kelvin runs into the burning building and safely brings out those trapped inside. He then receives they Mayor's Award for Valor (or something along the lines of that).

So should Kelvin mention that award in his apps? Sure the award shows his selflessness and bravery, but it also shows an impulsive and somewhat reckless side of him.

I. What. Is this a serious question?

Definetly. And write your essay about it

Kind of a weird scenario. But I think writing an essay about the experience would be the best way to incorporate it into your app and maybe your teachers would put it in their recs as well.

Yes it’s a serious question, but no I don’t know anyone who’s in that scenario. And I don’t think I ever will meet anyone that’s in such a scenario

Definitely. If I were Kevin I would either mention it in the awards section or write an essay about it. He definitely sounds like a person with the kind of good character I would be looking for in my school.

But lol, if you never met anyone who did something like that why ask? I hope you’re not planning on starting any fires for the sake of an award o_0. Jk! But seriously…

I had a dream last night that that’s what happened to me. I woke up after the mayor made this strange 10 second speech and handed me my award.

And don’t worry I won’t start fires for the sake of awards… secretly gets matches and gasoline

:)
