Should people retake the SAT II ??

I know lots of people retake the SAT reasoning...but the SAT II??
What's your opinion on that?

My Scores:
Japanese w/listening: 660
Math IC: 740

There's no way I can retake the Japanese test because I have to take the French w/listening next November.
I know I can get a 750-800 for Math IC if I had actually preped. Or should I just take the Math IIC and hope for a higher score? My 3rd subject test will be Writing and for that, I'll be happy to get in the 700-750 range. So, I really need a good Math score.

Any responses? opinions? advice?

First of all, there is no more SAT II writing, second of all, I would suggest taking the Math IIC and aim for 760+, a 740 on Math IC is VERY good, considering the curve is extremely harsh, so do not retake that. Basically, your 5th subject test should be a science if possible (physics, chemistry, or biology). Your 3rd and 4th are the French and Math IIC. So you'd end up with 5 subject tests, but make sure you take the new sat so you have the writing..because it seems you have taken the old SAT (assuming that is why you are asking about the 3rd subject test being Writing).

Ohhh..yeah I'm taking the new SAT in January.
So you recommend a well rounded choice of SAT subjects?

Or is it a better idea to take SAT II's in your strongest subjects?

well-rounded looks much better if you can pull it off. For example, I took 3 SAT II Subject Tests, Biology, Math IC, and History, 700+ on all 3, and that looks much better than taking Biology, Chemistry, and History, 700+ on all 3, because the latter does not show you are well-rounded and instead just focused on math and science. In my opinion stick with taking your 5th subject test as a science or history if it is possible. Furthermore, if it is not possible to take a 5th subject test because you still have to take french and math iic, I would replace the MATH IIC with a science or history (since you already have Math IC).
