Omg. Just saw it on nightly news. I teared up.
Loved the bath tub photo and the one in the vests. And piano playing nice too!
Congrats again!
Enjoyed watching you guys on the NBC Nightly News. In addition to your talents and smarts, you’re all charming as well. Please pass along our congrats and respect to your parents! Enjoyed seeing and hearing from them as well. Job well done all around!
Thank you!
I can’t believe they used part of my song for the ending bit!
FYI, Uberfacts on twitter (13.4 million followers) just tweeted about the four brothers! That is pretty uncanny!
@Mr. Me Do you have cool things lined up for the summer? Or is your mom going to make you sit with her so she can soak up time with you before you head off?
I’ve been traveling for 3 weeks, but checking back here occasionally when I can to see the latest as more results rolled in. When the 11:00 news last night mentioned quads getting into top colleges, I knew it had to be you guys. Then I checked back here and saw this thread had suddenly blown up with all the news coverage.
Loved your essays. I’ve always thought how great it would be to have siblings I was close to and share that special bond, so it was really interesting to get a glimpse of life as a quad from your unique, individual perspectives. There are pros and cons to everything, right?
Also interesting how things have evolved in this thread. Continuing to wish you all the best and can’t wait to see where you all land. Please keep us posted!
I was talking to my husband about you guys and he said that he read that two of you are going to Yale and the other two are going to Harvard. I said, “No! I think 3 are going to Yale and one is going to Stanford”. Then I told him I “know them personally”, and I’ll ask, LOL. So…
" I “know them personally.” Lol, that’s how it feels. And to think some of our advice somehow helped…priceless.
Maybe we need a reunion next summer. Ha.
I expect that now that all of the press has died down a bit that you can each take the time you need to carefully consider (and hopefully visit) your amazing college options and make a thoughtful decision. We can’t wait to hear what colleges(s) will be fortunate enough to get you on campus.
Nice appearance on The Today Show this morning! All 4 boys plus Mom and Dad! Personable, well spoken, seem like normal students getting excited about going to college. Take your time making a decision, glad you didn’t rush just so it could be announced on Today.
Best wishes
Hi, everyone!
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you guys.
My brothers and I are hard at work trying to narrow down our lists (attending admitted students receptions, scheduling visits, talking with former students, etc.).
I’m still waiting to hear back from Stanford’s financial aid office—trying to see if they’d be willing to reevaluate my financial aid award in light of the package we received from Yale.
All of us are looking forward to whatever the future holds!
And, as always, thank you for your support!
Good luck with the decision making. You can’t go wrong with such great choices. If you have time, it would be great to hear about some of the visits and how you end up making the final decisions.
I saw you guys on The Today Show! I’m a college freshman, and I texted my mom “I know those kids that were on Today!” haha.
I liked that you guys didn’t announce your decision. Best of luck!
Hey Again Quads,
I just saw your interview with NBC and it was just amazing. I wish I had a similar relationship with my brothers. I would just like to say that you guys have definitely inspired me since my last post. I am proud to say that since my last post, I’ve been notified that I will be a NASA intern next summer, right after high school graduation, and the following summers to come! Prior to the notification, I was, and currently am, working on creating a club at my school to give back to the community that allowed me to get to where I am today. Through a NASA-based program where I take a college class in Earth System Science online for free, I was able to learn more about Earth Science and NASA missions. Now that my class is over, and I’ll likely be attending the summer academy this summer, I want to help more students be aware of this wonderful program. That’s why I’m creating the Virginia-NASA club at my school so that more students can get to experience the classes themselves. I’m really excited about it and am currently in the works of making the program county-wide.
Anyway, my point is that you guys are definitely become one of my many inspirations to create this club and lead throughout my community. Do you guys have any plans in the future to give back to your school or your own community? J would imagine you would have a lot to thank them for considering you’ve all gotten into such great schools. Creating this club is probably going to be one of my final acts of giving back as I graduate next year. I would definitely love to hear what you guys might have planned?
Sorry if I missed this in the thread, but how did the news get a hold of this story?
Usually a story like this gets picked up in the local press- and then probably a national news media spots it. The OP can clarify, though it really doesn’t matter.
Ah, you’re a journalism student? If your beat were higher education, how would you have learned of this story? How would you get to be the first?
Signed, fellow journalist
What you’re doing is awesome, @ak2018! Congratulations! I’m so glad, and extremely humbled, that our story has been a source of inspiration for you in your pursuits (the same goes for you, @UofMichigan1999 —I think I remember reading a comment of yours that expressed a similar notion).
My brothers and I DEFINITELY have plans to give back to our school and community—we’ll try and address your question (and everyone else’s questions, for that matter) more in-depth once we get this whole college thing sorted out and school/track winds down (right now is a super busy time for us).
@CaliCash, Our essay mentor (@Chris63) had some sort of connection to the media—my brothers and I have him to thank for all the attention.
@brantly Not sure! I would probably go on twitter to find lots of people to find people with a ton of acceptances. Then, I would look at any newsworthy CC posts and see if anyone is willing to go public.
Congrats!!
@CaliCash If you are responsible for the education beat, you’d have to monitor the active education message boards, like this one. You’d also have to read the education trade publications. Sometimes stories come up in the trades that would be of interest to a wider audience.
