Should "Reading" be listed as an extracurricular activity?

I've read that Reading shouldn't be listed as an extracurricular activity on the Common App:
<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/07/education/07choice-t.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/07/education/07choice-t.html</a></p>

But what about people who spend about 15 hours a week reading literature, shouldn't that be listed on the extracurricular ?

I don't want to seem pompous by listing it, but I feel like it's a really big part of what I do outside the classroom !

I would not put it in the EC category. Try to incorporate it in another part of your application.

I wrote about the extensive reading and writing I do in my main Common App essay. I wove it into discovering a passion of mine (Native American studies) and how I pursued that love, etc etc.
Putting “reading” in the EC’s would sound too pretentious, IMO

Thank you all!
i’ll try to fit that somewhere else then, since I already wrote my Common App essay…

How about calling it Book Club and mentioning something like “Founder and only-member of the book club” under the details.

LMAO thats genius

Haha, I could do that, but I’m afraid they’d find that sad!
Thanks for the idea though, I’ll think of it if I can’t fit it anywhere else!
