Should study vocational course while studying BA in economics

Hi,

I'm studying economics in a community college and going to move to an University once I finish my 2 years there, which is this fall; however, I noticed that I could learn new and more skills besides my studies in vocational courses, such as Quickbooks , intermediate Office, Financial skills, etc. Will they enhance my possibilities to get a job once I finish economics BA? I will also would like to enhance my skills in Business and different subject that catch the entire explanation on how a company have to be manage and how does it affect the environment where it is, but I know I'm a economic major, but I'm planning on BA in Econ and MBA in Business, then PHD in econ, but things might change depends on how the time goes.

Thank you,

An MBA or PhD will make you overqualified for the kind of job where you’d need to be able to use QuickBooks.

If you were an accounting major, and your AIS course didn’t include some hands-on QB work, the QB class would be useful for a public accounting career, primarily because there’s a good chance of having a client who uses QB. But if you aren’t going into public accounting, and your post-BA desired job isn’t “entry level bookkeeper,” QB isn’t going to help you much.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to develop some skills in Office just from coursework, and you do better in a classroom than just poking around on your own, the Office course might be worthwhile.
