should this be okay in the future?

im currently taking an intro to comp sci. course that ive basically been cruising through thus far. i may end up with a low A to a mid C. as an entering freshman, who can make use of his pass/fail option for classes, would it look bad in the future if i exercised this and took a p or f? i dont even plan to major in anything related to comp sci-- i plan on majoring in IR.

A to C is a huge range for a grade. If you had no shot of getting above a C I’d take it P/F (after talking to an adviser of course). If you have a shot at an A or B, just take it for a grade. No use getting an A and only having a P show up on the transcript. I’ll guess that you’re prelaw. Don’t worry about getting a B freshman year. You don’t want to decide to switch majors in CS or math or something related and see that you took a course P/F that would look good or would be required for graduation.

Have you considered talking to the instructor and asking where you are standing grade-wise? I am rather confused too that you say A to C range… big difference!

I would talk to the instructor then make the decision. From what you say it appears not to be critical. However, there are huge numbers of story of folks who change to PF, then get an A in the course.
