Should we submit the SAT Chemistry subject test score?

My daughter wants to do ED to Duke engineering school. Her ACT score is 35 and 10 in writing. She took Math II subject test and got 800. However she only got 730 on the SAT Chemistry subject test. According to Duke’s web page, who take the ACT are not required to submit SAT or SAT Subject Test score. I think we should submit the math II test score. I am not sure if she should submit the Chemistry test or not. She got 3 in her AP Chemistry test. We were hoping a higher SAT subject test score on Chemistry would help her admission. However her score is not high enough. Should we still submit this test? Will it hurt her chance to get into Duke?

To paraphrase Tonto: “What do you mean “we” kemosabe?” “We” are not applying to college.

In other news, for Duke and every other school (except Georgetown), AP scores do not offset Subject Test scores, although moot in this case.

My view on Subject Tests is that one should submit zero or two. Very very few students take just one Subject Test, and sending just one may lead an AO to think that the applicant is hiding a score, which would be an accurate statement in this case.

I’d submit them both. They won’t hurt and may help. But also realize that the application is about much more than just scores.

@azmom2018 General rule of thumb I have seen here is that a score between 700-750 is a neutral data point - neither helps nor hurts (with the exception of Math II for STEM students aspiring to top tech schools). I think it’s better to send the 730 than to omit if two subject tests are recommended or required. Obviously, she should send the Math II.

Yes, I think I’d send it as well. Good luck!
