Should we visit?

We were just finishing up our daughter’s college visits, but she just got her first ACT score back at a 34, and it has caused us to wonder if we should open up our search a little. Interestingly, whenever we describe her interests and preferences, so many people recommend that we visit WashU.

Thought I’d post her stats here to see if she’d be a reasonable applicant? It’s just not a school we know much about (but people sure love it!)

ACT- first try- 34
GPA: 4.3 W/ 3.9 UW, small rigorous Christian school - does not rank
6 APs
Plenty of ecs & service with leadership
Likely NMF
Possibly pre-med, but unsure

She’s our oldest of 7, so finances are in play as well! And she’s really looking for a non-competitive, non-pretentious environment with nice kids:)

We sure appreciate any input! Or other ideas:)

Have you run the net price calculator at WashU? It is on the college website (all colleges have them). If it looks affordable and appeals to her academically, then I’d visit. Her stats are reasonable for it.

If the cost looks reasonable on the calculator, you should come back with more info for more suggestions on schools that give good need based aid.

The stats are definitely within WashU range. Of course, depending on which state you’re from, your state flagship should also be an option if affordability is an issue.

Along with WashU, you might want to consider the following peer schools as well:

Emory
Case Western
Rice
Tulane
Vanderbilt
