Should you buy tuition Insurance?

You know colleges offer tuition insurance in case the student is ill and they can’t attend the college, they would refund the tuition. I don’t know whether they would refund entire tuition fee or it depends upon at what point during the semester you fall ill.

Doesn’t college bill you tuition on the prorated basis, that means you pay for how many classes you have taken before discontinuing. If that’s case, why would you need Insurance?

Does the insurance refund you entire tuition if you become ill at any point and unable to attend a college?

There will generally be a deadline (probably around mid terms) after which there will be no refunds and no more add/drop.

Deadline By Both? I mean with or without tuition refund insurance??

I’m no pro at this but will tell you what I just learned. We can get full refund until first Friday week that classes start. After that, we are all in. However, tuition insurance would refund full amount if kid has to withdraw at any time in the quarter because of illness, etc. That is the plan offered by our school, it may be different at different schools idk, they should have given you a contact at the insurance company to ask details??? On a quarter system if you miss 3 weeks, you are pretty much hosed, so it could pay off. The insurance we were offered is only $63 per quarter which can be a tiny amount in the scheme of things. Just depends on whether you are a person who feels better with or without insurance.

You need to read the details of the insurance, see what it covers, when and under what circumstances. You need to do this with all insurance and other financial things in life. Policies differ. Read the fine print.

I pay about $85 per semester for mine. It’s not like you’re paying thousands for it…For such a relatively small amount, it’s definitely worth it. You never know when you could become ill, be in a serious car accident (God forbid), etc.

My daughter’s school refunds 90% of room, board and fees if a physician-certified medical condition (including mental) forces the student to withdraw from all classes for the balance of the term. Coverage is right up to the end of the term. Your school may vary.

I think it’s a great idea. Things happen unexpectedly. Could you afford to pay for an extra semester out of pocket? If not, the insurance is a no-brainer, IMO.

Great idea, never heard of it, will look into it.
