^nope. I just like screwing around with ppl on CC cuz it’s hilarious.

Me too. That’s why I always bring up liking other chicks.

lol R3d3mpti0n

I think as long as you’re only having a few drinks it’s ok, and nothing hardcore. I personally don’t drink.

I don’t drink, moreso because my friends don’t than because I’m opposed to the idea. I don’t think I’ve missed anything positive by being sober through high school.
That said, I disagree with the age restriction on drinking. College kids wouldn’t drink in secret if they were allowed to do it legally at 18, plus there wouldn’t be the taboo associated with alcohol education, treatment, and
councilling at the undergraduate level if freshmen could drink.

Can anyone clarify for me why the drinking age is 21 and not 18? What is so important about those 3 years that every American’s freshman year has to get spoiled by these kinds of restrictions? I don’t drink unless it’s like… a big family reunion thing (I’m Asian, go figure). Other than that, I do enjoy one or two of those chocolates with rum/whiskey in them each day, but those are like… 1mL of booze each.

Of course someone shouldn’t drink underage because it leads to arrests and fines and a lot of crap with parents, etc. But we’ve all been educated about alcohol and its risks and effects, so I think a drink or two wouldn’t harm anyone at all. I bet 21-year-olds are just as likely to get uber-drunk as 17-year-olds without the restriction.

It is a problem of responsibility. In America, there is a large amount of binge drinking. Head over to Europe and the numbers decline substantially. I think it’s how people are brought up over there, exposed to alchohol in a family setting at an early age and taught to drink in social settings in moderate amounts only. I too like to have a drink every now and then. Occasionally I will get drunk if it’s a wild party or something. There are some responsible drinkiers in America, but the majority aren’t.

I don’t currently. I’m a senior in high school, but once college comes around… who knows?

Well the law has to be there for a reason.

I think the drinking age in the US is pretty extreme though, it’s like 18 everywhere else.

^ Actually, in Belgium it’s 16.

Which I think its much better since almost everyone already drinks at 16 anyways, so you are just making something that isn’t very harmful get out of illegality.

Where I live it’s 18, and yeah, I really don’t understand that extreme drinking age.

^ Really? 16 is pretty young. Yeah where I live it’s 18.

^yep.
And I don’t think its that young if you consider that almost everyone drinks at 16 anyway.
I think Belgians are actually more reasonable than other people (specially americans…)

Your not supposed to cause its illegal, but if you are 18 and go to college, then it seems like then its ok to drink even though you arent legally allowed to until you are 21.I think it should be like it is in europe where you can drink when you are 14.

there’s really no point of a drinking age because people that want to drink will find a way to drink.

Frankly, if you don’t underage drink just a little bit and you aren’t going to a school like BYU I could see it being a bit difficult to get immediately socially acclimated in college. That’s just the reality based on what I’ve seen on college visits (and no, not those rigid, appointed visits where your flavor of the campus isn’t exactly the full picture).

I’m fairly apathetic about it. I don’t really enjoy social drinking, and only really drink vodka occasionally when I’m home alone to put me into a melancholy mood to watch movies.
As far as my position on whether or not teenagers should drink, I think its an issue of responsibility. I think fervently straight-edge, annoying kids who judge teen drinkers and try to “fix” them are total idiots, but I find mega-alcoholic kids who get slammed every other night and complain about school interrupting their binge just as stupid.
I refuse to get into a car with a drunk person, but it’s ultimately up to the person to be responsible or risk the consequences.
And honestly, underage drinking is a bloated issue anyway.

I don’t really see the problem with drinking in high school. With that being said, I personally don’t drink because I don’t see how it impacts my life for the better, but I don’t judge people who DO drink (unless you’re an alcoholic…that’s different).

TBH, I get more upset at kids who are all righteous about drinkers and go around bashing them all the time and try to get props for not drinking. It’s a personal preference…I wouldn’t go around bashing you for studying on a weekend, so why bash someone for drinking on the weekend?

I don’t like underage drinking, but hey, to each his own, and I respect that fully.

lol @dapotato man
ripemango he’s right your not missing out on anything except having a horrible hangover and waking up in the morning with vomit on your pillow. I dont want to endorse nor reject you drinking. It is up to you. The same fun you have drunk you could have sober minus the affects. dapotatoman pretty much told you everything . Good Luck and Remember your not missing out.

Because studying underage is illegal?

^So why bash them… It is their business!

^^What do you mean I told him everything?
