Hey everyone,

After an interview with an alum interviewer, is it a good idea to leave them with a resume? Even if it repeats information the admissions counselors would already know, does it help you look more prepared and professional?

I think it would be fine to bring one with you to the interview. I do. Some interviewers will take it, some wont. It can’t hurt, really.

I only did it for one interviewer who specifically asked for it. I guess it can’t hurt.

I never bring a resume to an interview (I haven’t been asked by an interviewer for one either) because I think that the interview is a chance for an alum to get to know you off of paper and I feel like bringing a resume defeats the purpose. Instead, tell them who you are and what you enjoy face-to-face. =)

It depends on the interviewer, so go and ask them first. Some specifically do not want anything - and some may have another form they want you to fill out.

During my interview, the first thing out of the alum’s mouth was “Do you have a resume?”

I’d bring one and be prepared to explain it, just to be safe.

Hey Hilary…what school was the interview for that asked that?

George Washington University
