Should you report class rank if it is optional at your HS?

My daughter’s school made the reporting of class rank optional. And when they do report they only report in Decile. My daughter just missed the 1st Decile (she is in the top 11%). The HS will report this as 2nd Decile.

Given that it the reporting is optional, would it hurt her chances of getting into college if we opted NOT to report her rank? Do we have to report it?

@akin67 A little bit of research yielded this answer: “For students from non-ranking schools, a rank is estimated using the student’s GPA and grade distributions provided by the schools.” UT @ Austin is the only Texas school that does not follow the top 10% rule. They are only accepting the top 7% for the Class of 2021.
