Should you write about your personal story in your college essays?

<p>I want talk about how my mom was abused, and how we were homeless for a while. I can proceed the essay into how it ushered my maturity and character. I need honest advise because I will be applying to high Ivy league schools.</p>

<p>Dude that can be a good essay because you have to like fend for yourself sometimes.</p>

<p>You should write how you overcame that struggle in high school, and was able to succeed despite financial/emotional setbacks…</p>

<p>But as for your question…revealing hardships that you had to experience in your upbringing and showing success despite that is pretty important background information to provide.</p>

<p>My ACT score is a 27 except for that, my Ecs & GPA are about right for the Ivy league expectations</p>

<p>That little bit of your life already puts you at an “advantage” when it comes to your essay, go for it!</p>
