Shouldn't Dartmouth give better aid?

If you have a better offer from a school Dartmouth would consider a rival (an Ivy or something like it) then they might try to match it to improve their cross-admit yield.

...but who on earth applies to Dartmouth and Penn? the schools could not be more different except for their both being in the Ivy Le--oooohhhh....

dartmouth's finance and administrative departments suck at the college. If you try to haggle with them they might give you better aid.

And this is your opinion based on........

Anyhow, thanks for your advice sybbie; I was just wondering when I can ask for a financial review, and it seems like that is when the official financial aid package is received, not the tentative.

JohnnyK - I didn't even apply to Penn so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

backfire - ?

When you receive your package there is a form that your fill out for the financial review where you state your case (and supply documentation if necessary). Then you can fax the forms over to FA office. IN addition, you could even wait for offers from comprable schools and send those.

Appeal the aid package. I've seen this work many times.

Slip,

you know our favorite FA people like the term financial review (vs. appeal and negotiate). It just makes things soung more civilized ;)
