SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! j/k.. (for int'l student)

hi! i'm applying to all schools that say they provide need-based aid for int'l students. I take the most demanding courseload at my school and my cum. GPA is about 3.4. I have a 1260 on the SAT. TOEFL CB 298... strong ECs...
if i show $12,000 as expected family contribution and these colleges cost a whopping $40,000....do you think the colleges would work something out for me or straight away dump my application in the reject pile?

Some will dump your app in the reject pile because most US schools are not needblind for international students. You need to look at schools where your SAT is in the upper 25% of their range to have a good shot. You also may want call and ask each school if it is need blind for Internationals.

hey, im a brit in my last year of colleg in the uk, im dieing to go to college or university in american but i have no idea what i need to do. ive come to realise that the fee's are quite expensive so my parents arent willing to fork that much out- $12,000 per term. i keep hearing about grants and aids for int'l students- where do i start

Most schools (which there are very few) that are both need blind and will meet 100% of your financial need are the Ivies and a few of the elite liberal Arts Colleges where the competion from international students for admission will be very steep.

Even in the financial aid process, it is not a matter of how much your parents are willing to pay, what you will pay will be dependent upon the financial information that you submit to the colleges and the schools wil determine how much you can afford to pay.

However since yor parents have given you a ball park figure, as Jamimon stated you will need to research schools where your SAT is in the upper 25% of their range to have a good shot at merit/financial aid.
