Does anyone have a good sense of when we can expect to hear the amount of any Merit Awards?

i would like to know also. but i'm a transfer student so it's probably different.

Last year, merit awards were received in the March 18-25 time frame.

Department awards were received the first week of April.

Dont know if it will be the same year, but I think it will be.

I have no idea about transfer students scholarships.

I emailed them about merit awards the other day, and the response said that they would be coming out in the latter part of March. I don't know about transfers, though.

Thanks gnusa

Does anyone have any idea what stats get you merit aid? I've read that most of it goes to Gemstone and honors. Do you think scholars have any chance? very worried.....................I know someone last year who got into honors and wasn't offered a penny. I wish money wasn't such a big factor for us but it is.

I know someone in Scholars this year who got $5000 a year, and he's in state... soo I'm hoping for something like that hah!

I just called the financial aid office to see when awards are mailed out. They are closed today due to spring break. ARGGGHHH
Will call tomorrow.

do u get money for being in scholars or honors...just wondering

my cousin, i don't think, gets money and he is in scholars. Actually I know he doesn't get money but I'll ask him. It is a person by person thing...

I got an email saying I was in Civicus but nothing in the way of aid. Any idea when that's coming and how much to expect?

I called the fin. aid office today. They said financial aid awards will be made the first week in April. They will be on line. They will not be mailed. (strange)
They said any scholarship money (ha) will be mailed but did not say when.

i thought when i went to my visit i heard something like 80% or some high percentage of honors students get scholarships but just because you're in honors doesnt mean youll automatically get one. did anyone else hear this?

This is taken from an article in the Washington Post dated April 3rd, 2005...."Nearly three-fourths of this years honors freshman received partial or full scholarships from the university, compared with less than 12 percent of the rest of the class."..............
Uh oh. Does not look good for us. That doesn't even talk about the Gemstone kids!
By the way, it is an excellent article called "the price is right" by Jeffery Selingo.

It is an individual thing. For the money you have to have a minimum SAT score which most honors kids would have, but not all.
I dont know about the athletes.

minimum SAT score =s?? Anyone know?

Just got off the phone with admissions. Merit awards should be RECEIVED approximately April 1. Sorry, I did not ask about need-based financial aid notification.
