yes! D got hers today, too. i think they’re looking at borderline people last. D was borderline on SATs, but grades very high, recs must have been excellent. her activities were excellent, volunteered doing scientific research for many years, had a normal summer job, etc. i had been told end of feb. was the end and we’re nearing that. Best of luck to you all.

My D heard that she received $10,000 the 2nd week of March after asking 2 times for a review. I hope this gives some of those who are still waiting some hope. I learned that it can’t hurt to keep trying. Good luck!

Show me the Money ???

THERE IS NO COW LEVEL!

( I hope you know what I’m talking about.)

Does Pitt give any money for naming it as NMF first choice. I could find no information on this subject.

^^^ I don’t think so. But If you’re NMF, you might score high enough on the SAT to get a merit scholarship.

Lol, Starcraft FTW!

vryproudmom, congratulations! How did you go about asking for a review…who did you ask and how? Son was given 2K yesterday but we really need 10K. Pitt would definitely be in the running with a higher award amount because offers are on the table at Duquesne and Marquette of 13-15K /Year. Thanks for any input and again congrats to D

WestPA I emailed the honors department first and then the admissions. I asked for a review and restated her high grades, high school standing, GPA, etc. However we are OOS and 10K is the minimum given for out of state and 2K is the amt for instate. I’m guessing that you are instate from your username and the 2K amt. I think the only thing they could raise your merit aid to would be full tuition. Good Luck!

Thanks vryproudmom, we are indeed instate. Son was invited into UHC, I am curious - how did the honors department respond to your request for review? Did they direct you back to admissions or did you contact honors and admission simultaneously?

WestPaND
Did you receive my private message?

Am also curious about asking for review. Son has 1490 SAT, 35 ACT, good gpa, but not in top 5% of class. OOS - received no merit scholarship, called admissions, to ask, they said because he was not in top 5% would not receive any. Who and how do you ask for review. Was told they would not review.

@grvr10 - when I see stats like that and no Merit $$ I am glad my DS high school does not rank.

grvr10- I don’t know who you ask, but PITT is on rolling admission, and I think the scholarships are, too. If you applied too late they may have been gone…

I wrote to admissions restating all the positive stats…test scores, ranking and an extra paragraph or two about extra activities and community service. Asked them to please review. I first received a reply by email that they would review and then 2 wks later a scholarship letter. It was the second time I asked after first being told no. I included a lot of positive info about D’s community service that I thought her application did not point out. Good Luck

Hopefully you have other choices.

Is anyone else still waiting for their financial aid letter?

My D has a friend from VA still waiting. Not sure if he called yet to ask. Did you call?
