showers

Is there enough hot water to go around for everyone?(I feel I already know the answer) I just wanna know, is there a certain time that the water will be ice cold or anything because my classes start at 10 & 11. I'm going to be in Denton.

It fluctuates terribly. If you hear a toilet flush, jump out of the water immediately. A lot of people like to flush the toilets as a practical joke. It actually is pretty funny.

In general though, the water gets pretty hot, but it might randomly get colder or hotter for no reason.

yeah, toilet flush = burst of not so hot water

I was in Denton--the only time I ever had issues with hot water being out was during the power outage.

Its nice and warm all the time in cambridge. There were a few times where it was cold and stayed cold for a while. I don't know how that happened. Also occassionally someone would turn on all the showers and turn them on hot which would make a nice sauna in the bathroom.

Yeah, if the toilets flush its going to be really hot. It really sucks. Also if someone on another floor flushes the toilet the same thing happens. First thing that you notice is that the water pressure goes down for a split second and then 1 second later it burns like crazy. If you feel it comming you have to side step that sum***** before it really hurts. Sometimes you know you are tired and can't get out of the way in time and just prepare. It really sucks if the water is pointed towards your face when this happens.

^ College and UMD is starting to scare me a little bit! Eeek.

milki-- you'll find a similar problem at most colleges with common bathrooms...it's not unique to UMD. it's completely understandable to be a bit nervous, but don't let the little things (like showers) take away from your excitement about starting college!! :)

how can u hear flushes while ur in the shower?

^ they are in the same room nub. :D

yeah I've been here 4 years and I haven't heard anything like that

or maybe there's a new trend: to shower & po op in the same room :D

person A: alright I'm gonna shower ok?
person B: don't lock the door, let me use the toilet
person A: okay, tell me when you flush the toilet, oh wait, and make sure I'll turn off my shower before you flush so I can hear flushes :D don't peak though
