Showing interest by visiting a college verification

How do colleges know if you visited that particular college? When you sign up for a tour do they keep track of every single person who has toured? Or is there a place where you mark you have toured on that college’s application?

Basically, how do you indicate you have visited them bc I know visits play a large part in showing interest.

Thanks

Not every college cares about demonstrated interest. You can google each colleges common data set and look at section C to see if demonstrated interest is considered important for that particular school.

That said, for schools that do care about demonstrated interest (and visiting is one way to do that) then you usually sign up online for a tour (unknown if colleges keep that record), there is usually a sign-in sheet or something when you arrive for a scheduled visit, and there is often a place on the school’s supplement where you can note that you visited. If there is a supplemental essay for the college you can often work in something you noted during your visit as well.

makes sense, thanks a lot @happy1

Most schools that track interest are private schools. Most private schools use the Common App, which allows for a question in the supplemental school are that asks if you’ve visited the school and when. Some will then ask for a short answer essay about what you particularly liked about the during your visit.
If you haven’t visited the school, that’s not a problem.
