I know it is important to show interest to Tufts. Besides visiting, what other types of interest are there?

I always wondered that.

Fellatio...

Letters, letters, letters.

I agree with snuffles; send letters, write brief essays about why you think that Tufts is the perfect school for you and in what ways you will thrive there, etc.

Having an interview and telling them how much you love the school.

Yeah definitely send letters, talking about SPECIFIC things you would do if you got in. For instance, I sent an additional anecdote showing my motivation in general, followed up by specific things I would love to do at Tufts, like joining an A Cappella group (I gave a name, but I've forgotten!). DEFINITELY do your research. Describe certain clubs, organizations, classes, etc you would participate in. Be assertive! And good luck :)

When is it too early to start letters? I'm a junior and I was thinking about sending them now.

Hmm well, by this time of my own junior year, I would have visited Tufts twice :) If you had ever spoken to a certain admissions counselor during your visit, send him/her an email thanking him/her and expressing your love for Tufts. Then keep up the "relationship" with the counselor by sending emails every so often, maybe with a question, or just to update on your activities and such. It could help :)

fellatio + letters will get your ass spanked by an annoyed admission staff.---com'on pple, this aint valentines day.

My plan== follow the Dao and do nothing; Lao Tze said "you will obtain that which you have not striven for, for the Dao is the way"

words for the wise, absorb it if u like

I'm sorry this is late (it's may now, and this was started in march)

but i have a question!

What do u mean by "sending letters" ?
I'm love upenn A LOT, and i'm a junior currently.

Do u just write letters to upenn, saying how wonderful they are, and how much I love them??
^
Isn't that kind of going to the extreme??

Well it can't hurt to show interest, but I'm just throwing out that the only thing Tufts-related that I did outside of applying was the interview, which went well, so it didn't break me that I showed little interest. But I guess if it's genuine it's a good thing to let the admissions committee know.

It seems hopeless. Read my post on the "Tufts releases admission statistics" thread.

May I ask can a junior send letters now? Can anyone help out with a Yes/No?

I would suggest waiting until after you've send part 1 of your application in the fall of your senior year before you send any love letters to Tufts. Reason: colleges usually don't start your file until after you've sent them the actual application (in the case of Tufts, I believe they start it after you send your part 1 part of the app, if others know this to be incorrect, please correct me) so if you send the letters before you send that part 1, your letters are liable to be tossed out or read and forgotten, rather than put in your file, which is what you're looking for. When you do send the letters, remember to include your SSN# on them. This is key because Tufts works with applicants via SSN#s. Best of luck to you!

COVER letter. Geez. Not poetry; not something with "Hallmark" on the back; not anything purchased at a store which also sells sealing wax. Cover letter.

Here is the Aries cover letter format:

(at left)
your address
date

(at right)
their address

Dear (Person),

I am a h.s. senior from (Grosse Pointe High). I am applying to Tufts because (then ramble on for a paragraph or two about what you like about it, and include specifics. Your cousin's friend went there and let you stay overnight, and you fell in love. The tour guide mentioned 10 of your favourite activities. You've wanted to do IR since you were a baby. The campus just felt "right." Your guidance counselor suggested you look at it. The Monty Python Society is your thing. You sat in on Prof. Morris's chem lecture and loved it. Whatever).

Enclosed please find:
*Common application
*Essay #1
*Optional Essay #2 ("Why Tufts" or "Why I've always wanted to do engineering" or whatever)
*Recently read books
*Resume

The following items will be arriving separately:
*Recommendation from Ms. Thatcher. Ms. T teaches chemistry, which is my intended major. She has also encouraged me towards med school (blah blah blah).
*Supplemental form.

Thank you for considering my application,

(name)

Now, you can also send letters. Here's how those work:
*if you interview on campus or meet with admissions, send a quick thank- you note, and include something specific (great discussion about bio research on jellyfish).
*In February, send a letter (this one typed) with your most recent accomplishments and awards since you sent in the app. Conclude with something about "I'm looking forward to hearing from you in the spring. Tufts remains one of my top choices."

Prof "Morse" :)

? I always thought it was spelled the other way.

My pardons - I never had him for class but only heard everyone else singing his praises. :)

interview + the optional essay
and possibly a letter in febuary updating them on activities

don't harass them with letters/emails though
