Shown Interest

Many colleges openly say that shown interest is a factor in admissions. Besides visiting the school and going on a guided tour, being on the mailing list, and interviewing what are/were other ways that anyone used to show interest.

Thanks.

The single most dramatic way to show interest in a college is to apply to it binding Early Decision.

Obviously, you wouldn't do this unless the college is definitely your first choice AND your family financial situation is such that you don't have to compare financial aid packages from multiple colleges.

You can also say somewhere in your " why ____college? essay that they are your first choice, and you will matriculate there if accepted.

If a NM semifinalist, list them as one of your schools. If they have merit scholarships, apply for them, taking the time to write additional essays for scholarships shows that you're serious. Make contact with your regional admissions rep (when they visit your school, email a question, etc.).
