Hi,

I have an average GPA of 2.5, I'm at John Molson School of Business in Montreal and I would like to be transfered to Sacred Heart in sport marketing and management. Since my GPA isn't great, I think a letter of recommendation would be good. I have been doing judo for 12 years and my coach is the coach of the national team, he held the flag at the olympics in 2004 for Canada, won 2 olympic medals... I do believe this would help. I, myself participated in many national championship and won medals.

Now what are my chances of getting into this undergrad program? Is the letter of recommendation a good idea(and what should be in it)? Should I wait before applying and boost my GPA?

Thank you for the help :)

Hi,

If you’re male, then I think you’ll have an easier time getting accepted. SHU is 60% female and is in want of more males.

How many credits do you currently have? Are you a frosh or soph? Where else will you be applying?

I am a male, I currently have 30 credits.

Do you mean after this semester you will have 30 credits? Do you have any AP Credits?

Either way, I think you have a good chance if you’re male and you can full pay? Can you full pay?

After this semester I will have 42 credits.
And yes If I go to this school I will pay full cash(I mean I don’t think I have the grades to get a scholarship…). I did not apply to any other school because I believe this was the most decent school that offered the sports management major in their business school. I think it’s a good school(right???) and if I don’t get accepted I will just stay at Concordia.

I think that you will get accepted. You’re male and you can full pay. They will like that.

However, I don’t know if they’ll accept you immediately into their B-school program. They may make you wait until your GPA is up a bit. Is their program a 2 year program that you apply to get into?

What do you mean by ‘‘Is there a program a 2 years program …?’’

Also they say we may send our high school grades if we want… My grades were average except in math and economics… I had A and A- should I send them altought the other grades were very average like between 50% and 75%
Also do you think their business school is a good one?!

Hey, if they don’t insist on your high school grades, I wouldn’t send them if they aren’t admirable.

Frankly, I don’t know enough about SHU’s sports management program. how did you learn of it?

As for the 2 year mention. Many universitys’ B-schools are a 2 year program that begins junior year in college. The first 2 years the student kind of prepares to be accepted into the B-school program. There’s an application process and acceptance process. Not every school does this… I don’t know what SHU does…

I just looked at their website and I can’t find any mention of a special app process into the B-school, so there may not be one. There is a list of lower division required business core curriculum courses, so it would seem like the earlier you transfer in, the better, so you can be assured of having those classes.

I cant remember where I saw this, but I think I can recall a review that said their sport management program was good. I assume that doing an undergrad major in sport management will be a plus if I want to do an MBA in the same field right?!
