Shuttle to Syracuse airport

D attending in fall. What options are there for transportation to and from Syracuse airport? I see Ithaca Shuttle as an option but cost appears to be $85. Prior to breaks does University have any group transportation at a possible lower rate? Also do most students go home for fall break? Thank you

Hi and congratulations to your daughter!

I have taken the Cornell bus to Syracuse for Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, February and Spring Break. It’s about $30 each way. As far as I know there is not a Cornell bus for May, when school ends or August, when it begins. If I’m not fortunate enough to catch the flight right out of, or into, the Ithaca airport, then I just pay the $85 for the Ithaca Shuttle.

We have used Ithaca Airline Limousine - it is expensive but reliable and frequent. DS says it is on time. So far no complaints!
Fall break is too short - usually 4 days - that includes Saturday and Sunday. So, if you are closer to university, then makes sense to go home. For many, it is not an option.

We live in the middle of the country, not close enough to drive. When our older child went to college, we did not bring her home for fall break, and she was quite homesick. That stretch from August to Thanksgiving is a very long time for a freshman. When our second child when to college, we brought him home - and he was very glad. It may only be two days, but home is home. Neither one felt it would be necessary to come home for fall break during sophomore (or later) years.

The Ithaca Airline Limousine has worked quite well for us. Sometimes I wish they picked up more frequently, but at least they are there when they say they will be, and they always answer the phone and are very helpful and friendly.

Thank you I appreciate the perspective on fall break. I was thinking the same thing

There is a daily, direct bus from the downtown Ithaca bus terminal to SYR Airport. The trip takes about one hour and forty minutes (it makes stops along the way, but no change of bus is required). Current one-way fare is $16.50. More information at: www.trailwaysny.com. (There is also a daily, direct Trailways bus from Ithaca to BUF Airport, but that trip takes about 3 1/2 hours, and costs more.) The return service from SYR Airport to Ithaca requires a transfer at the Syracuse bus/train station.

ITH Airport is served by AA, DL, and UA. Fares are sometimes higher than those out of SYR, but you can’t beat the convenience of flying out of ITH. And as of the end of this month, all scheduled service in and out of ITH will be on jet equipment.
