I got accepted to Wharton in the ED round and will be matriculating this fall. My brother is really attracted to the Jerome Fisher program (with Wharton as backup) and wants to pursue a career in ibanking, trading, private equity, or electrical engineering. Does the fact that I attend Wharton help my brother out? Or does legacy only count if your parents went?

Siblings are technically not legacy applicants–only those with a parent or grandparent who attended Penn are “legacies” as defined by Penn Admissions.

However, siblings of current students apparently do get a bit of a boost in Penn admissions, albeit not as “legacy” applicants (unless, of course, they are also legacies :)):

Penn does not officially count siblings as legacy however they do take into account the deeper knowledge and level of interest demonstrated by these applicants. There are many sibling pairs at Penn, including my two kids, who are not legacy kids.
