Hey guys. I'm applying ED and I'm wondering if I would put my sibling who is a current Vanderbilt student as an "Alumni Relative" on the Vanderbilt supplement.

Thanks

Hey guys. I'm applying ED and I'm wondering if I would put my sibling who is a current Vanderbilt student as an "Alumni Relative" on the Vanderbilt supplement.

Thanks

why don’t you put her name and her graduation class “13” and the word (future) on that line

Yes. Our second son was in the same situation. Vanderbilt admissions said that this will definitely be considered as a plus. I don’t known how much it helped but he got in and is now a student there. Best of luck!

I agree that it’s a plus, but maybe not as much as it used to be. On move-in day for my youngest, both Chancellor Gee and Dean Shain (former admissions dean) spoke to parents and the stat for the number of sibling pairs on campus was something like 72. I heard there was a session during parents weekend a few weeks back with Doug Christiansen and John Gaines and the current stat was in the 40something range.

It definitely does. I have multiple friends with older siblings here and it definitely helped them get in. I believe the administration has said it helps.

S1 is a current student at Vandy and I can think of at least 7 of his friends that have a younger or older sibling currently enrolled (2 of those families have 3 kids as current students/alumni). We are sure hoping it helps - S2 is also in love with the school and is really hoping for an acceptance!!

Its an interesting pattern - I wonder if other schools have the same amount of sibling pairs attending?
