-My 23 yr. old brother was pretty intelligent, all star football player. pretty high GPA and test scores (although I don't know the specifics). He went to the naval academy.
-My 19 yr. old sister was pretty average. took no ap classes and really struggled in math/science/foreign language. basically her only strong point was english. and she got like a 2.5 and went to a mediocre private school. she also did 0 extracurriculars.
-I'm the smartest of the family. Attending Harvard in the fall. Got stellar grades, did a crapload of ecs, and still had a really healthy (probably too healthy) social life. Also, i'm basically good at math, science, and the humanities. So i am the smartest and most well-rounded.
-My 14 yr. old sister is gonna be a freshman in high school next year. She's smart but more like average smart. I mean, she can get straight A's in all regular classes or straight B's in all AP classes. But, my parents want her to be like me, so they've already started molding her for ivy league admissions. (something they never did with me). so i guess i'll find out if she is more than regular and can handle the AP courseload. maybe she and I are equally smart (or she could be smarter than me). i guess i'll find out after she completes part of high school.

You guys have to remember that often the younger siblings do better because they learn from the mistakes of their older siblings. Their siblings have gone through the school system, had many different teachers, and can give advice that gives you an advantage.

Which sibling tends to be the smartest?

I'm older than my sister and smarter than her. She's 15 and I'm 17. I'm also female. I'm also a lot more motivated than her. I have a (male) friend who is 19 and his brother is 23, and while they are both intelligent people, my friend is the smarter one.

I have two other younger sisters and one more sibling on the way, but I couldn't tell you about their intelligence. They're like... 5 or 6, 1 or 2, and not born.

Is there a large gap between the smartest and dumbest sibling?

Yes. I don't know how to represent this in data -- my GPA is higher than my sister's, she hasn't taken the SAT, I outscored her significantly on the PSAT (comparing freshman year scores). My friend and his brother have a smaller gap, I think.

Is a person generally as intelligent as his or her siblings?

No.

How does this factor in SAT scores and GPA?

Already answered this.

How does this factor in in terms of getting into colleges? Which sibling gets into the best schools?

My friend's brother has graduated, my friend is entering his sophomore year, and I'm entering my freshman year. We're all going to the same, generic state school. I don't think my friend applied anywhere else. I didn't. I don't know about his brother. This isn't a good point of comparison.

Which sibling tends to be the smartest? My sister

Is there a large gap between the smartest and dumbest sibling? Not really. My sister is a big math/sci person and I'm more of a humanites person.

Is a person generally as intelligent as his or her siblings? no

How does this factor in SAT scores and GPA?
* I had a 3.32UW cumulative HS GPA and I got an 1840 on the SAT. My sister has a 3.8 and hasn't taken the SAT/PSAT/ACT. But, she's taking AP Calc as a sophomore

How does this factor in in terms of getting into colleges? Which sibling gets into the best schools?
* My sister will probably get into a higher ranked undergrad school. I'll probably end up getting more degrees, as I'm strongly considering a Philosophy PhD/JD program and I think my sis wants to do engineering.

First Born male, Difference 2 years 364 days, sister
1. I grasp concepts quicker, have better long term memory and have common sense, she is more careful, organized and writes better notes
2. No its relatively small
3. Yeah, we tend to "brag" about each other
4. As I came first, I needed to pave the way. I expect her to achieve higher SAT scores and class rank (i.e. val or bust) than I did
5. Too young to tell, but she is a varsity athelete in 3 sports her freshman year whereas I'm student body president.
